2024-2025 Accomplishments

Excerpts from the Mayor's Facebook Page...

  • Public Safety:

    * Added a much needed traffic patrol and additional firefighters to support the infrastructure of our increased population.

    * Secured an opioid grant, funding additional dedicated officers and community prevention programs.

  • Policy, Operations, and Governance:

    * Recent legislation to improve the IT operations and security for our first response services

    * Completed the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), updating, improving, and streamlining our existing policies

    * Added a City Planner to our Planning and Development Department to guide us through our post-moratorium with the UDO.

    * Adopted an Accessory Use Policy (AUP) protecting tax payers from future risks in litigation

    * Replaced the city's software system to improve efficiency and service

    * Approval of the sale of West End Hall back to its original owner, School District of Pickens County, putting this historic property in line for increased productivity and benefit to the community.

I'm excited to report I've achieved my campaign goals for my Administration only half way through my term: Restoring a CPA to our Finance Department and balancing the books, the moratorium we placed for a year and a half to assess, evaluate, and update navigation of the growth that is happening around us. We are now more fully staffed to respond responsibly to the city's needs. Our UDO is set to help guide us in better addressing residential issues.

At this two year mark, I can honestly attest that my initial desire to be a public servant, not a politician is still intact. In fact, even more so, as I have definitely learned that I have a strong distaste for politics. I've learned that not all Civil servants are civil, not all professionals act professionally, and too many residents sit the process out, leaving the business of governing to a few willing to step in or step up. I encourage citizens that care about the good of our city to get involved, stay engaged, and participate for the best future for all of us.

Thank you again to our city staff, partners, and residents for another great year. I'm excited to see what lies ahead.
